    Hey Justin..... Copper is a very soft metal and easy for folks to manipulate. As a result we see quite a lot of copper cents with one side or the other manipulated. I would guess that somebody wanted a unique golf ball holder, Bingo card place holder or maybe even a unique chip for his Friday night poker game. Honestly the only person that could answer that is the person that created the piece. It's cool, but from a numismatic perspective it is damaged goods.
