Hello Ryan. Nice commemorative. This is one that I don't have yet. What is going on with that mintmark? There were a lot of repunched mintmarks in this series. Take a look more closely to see if it was repunched.
Nice catch jaceravone! I have not yet received the coin, so when I do, I will get better pics that actually shows luster, and I will take a lot at that mint mark. I do think it is re punched because this coin shows very little wear, and so for the mint mark to be that worn wild be extremely un-usual. Thanks again!
Small but growing , only 7 older comm , plus a bunch of Type coins , trouble is I only like Unc coins , looking for a nice Barber 1/2 , bust 1/4 , or any nice commemerative . rzage
I went and got my 35-S, and the mintmark is "barely" visible and a flat filled "s". No repunched.....but .....I looked at my 1936D San Diego mink mark and it is a D/D, CPG # C50-1936D-501, Both are PCGS64 Rattlers, but the RPM is not on the label of the 36D. Thanks Ryan for getting my curiosty up to go and check! I had never checked it before! Jim A good Karma day
The 36D/D is farely common. I just happened by chance to purchase this one. My local coin shop had two 36Ds... one was a D/D and the other one was not. There is not much of a premium for RPM, but it is just neat to have. The real find is the 36 D/S. This is the one that you don't find too many around.
I got this from eBay, so there is no proper grade that they gave me. My guess it that they used a scanner to get these pics, so it does not show the luster. When I receive the coin, I will get better pics. I believe that it is showing a lot of the details that are suppose to be there, so I think this one was a nice buy
yeah, I saw it was the same price in the CPG when I checked it, but that's fine with me, I like the adrenalin and endorphin rush when I found it! Along with a 6 pk of Diet Coke it really makes a buzzzzz! Jim
I totally agree! :thumb: I love to find doubling and I'll spend an hour with the coin when I dew. Ribbit
Jim, that is the problem with these TPGs. You have to tell them what you have or what you want them to look for. If I remember correctly with NGC, there was a price just to send the coin in to be graded. Then if you wanted them to attribute the coin with your findings then that is an additional cost, but if you want them to attibute it, with their findings, then you will be paying more. This is how the "man" makes their money.
I can't remember if they even offered varieties labeling then. This was 1988 as I recall. Yes, I know today you have to pay for the labeling .....and your name collection, etc. Jim
