I've come across lots of old wheat pennies that have this "stuff" on them. It looks like some kind of Lacquer. I just can't see how so many have this on them. Some are big blobs that are thick and some are just a thin layer. Could it be some sort of wax or lubricant that they used back in the day on the machines? Has anyone else come across this? Just wondering. PICT0036.jpg PICT0032.jpg PICT0034.jpg PICT0038.jpg

Soak it in acetone and not the nail polish kind.

sometimes "pennies" get lost in a workshop where change falls out of pockets an ends up in a jar or catch all container were a paint brush with varnish was sitting. "i found many in my dads work place out back" nice memories
