1935 D Lincoln Cent the size of a DIME! Wrong Planchet?

    This is in a 1 Cent 2X2 the edge has appearance of been squished not smooth. 213sarah

    looks as if some one ground it down to the size of a dime to use in a vending machine, notice the burr around the rim.

    I thought the same, at first! But, the edge is not smooth, it is squished with raised layers. Like possible a small object squished out to larger area, like the die area during mint. Other words it has the same edge apprearance as would a dime planchet would take from falling in to a cent minting. Make sence?

    If you can explain to me how you have a raise line in the middle of the "E PLURIBUS" lettering for only one coin, I might consider some possibilities.

    In 1935 the dime planchet would have been silver.
