Like is it torn, worn, folded, wet, does it have pen markings...All important things when finding out condition and value ;)

It's not in bad shape. You can see some fold lines but there are no rips, tears,or holes Centering is off vertically 80/20 and 40/60 horizontallyand the corners are not real sharp, but for 75yrs old not bad. The only thing that concerns me is the seal, serial# and star have faded to a lime green. Is that natural? I will try to send pictures, but have never done it before. Thanks for any info.

    Well pictures would still help...
Are the edges sharp, like a new bill, or dull?

    Is it a silver certificate?

    Hello Dave...

what you have is a $10 Fed Reserve Note FR#2004 D* Series 1934 Star Note in Fine condition. There is a premium for the note, I do not have my books with me at the moment so I can not put a $$$ on it. In 1928- 1934 There were 2 different inks used and this one is called the vivid green or yellow green ink.

Nice note! It is from the Cleveland district. The top margins are somewhat thin on the face and the paper alignment mark on the left center bottom margin is meant to be there..no harm to the note!

FYI... Dave was kind enough to send me the images to post....for all of you to enjoy!

    Thanks Dave..

Without a star, it might be worth around $12-$15, but this has a star, and I can't find it in my book...Rickie B is your best bet on this one

    Dave...

Not to confuse you, but there are/is a variety called a Mule.
Simply put the the back plate is an older plate used to print this note.

I just did a search on Heritage and found a "A" (Boston note just like yours) that sold for $55 a few months ago....I could not find a Cleveland note.

Different districts issued different quantities of notes and therfore the reason that some are more scarce than others. When I get home I will look it up for you...or perhaps some others here will help you as well. Until later...keep it away from any liquids or other damaging items. Put it away in a mylar sleeve for now. In higher grades..the prices go up dramatically!

Not sure on the Mule ...having a difficult time finding info on the plate #'s.
What I am finding i that a continuance from the previous Series meaning the Series of 1928...may not be any Mules?? Anyone else have any input?

    Hello Dave...

On the front of the note you will see a small number called the face number, what is it? On the back you will also see a small number, I need that as well. If it is above 584 let me know.

VF examples are running about $80-$90 USD...

The 50-60 dollar range is about right for that note. A dealer will offer you less, on average %20..or more.

    Regards,

    RickieB

Davids coins, pretty sweet. Did you find that in circulation? US guide to paper money 27th ed. lists 2004A* at $45 in fine with Boston 2004A* at $35. Guess that just shows how correct the books are for pricing. Looks like back plate # is 401 or 481. Hard to tell from pics.

The # on the back is 481. The only one on the front is 7 by the C in the lower right portion.I got this from my neice that works for National City(PNC now). They got it from an Arbys thurs. morning. Someone was pretty desparate for roast beef, huh. I appreciate all the info as I am new to the hobby. I know all the info is out here in space ,its just knowing where to look. Thanks again.
