There are more qualified people out there fro grading than me, but I would say at best RD-63 and worth (retail) $215. That is a nice "key" coin to have in a collection. How did you get it?
I like!!!! Does that date say April 19, 1951 ?!?!?! I see some spots coming on the obverse so I would move it too a new 2x2. As for a grade MS-64 or maybe MS-65. And welcome to CT
:yes:MS-63+RD? I can recall them well as they were the only coin slip till about 1958-60??I still have 1-2 with wheat cent in then to remind me.
I bought a suitcase at an estate auction for $25 and found this coin along with quite a bit of silver
Welcome to CT! Always remove your coins from the holder before taking pictures. Also, crop out the junk, we are only interested in seeing the coin. Looks like you got a fantastic deal! Seems to be around 63-64RD, about a $200 or so coin.
63/64 range. It is a bit hard to get exact with that photo. You could probably get $160 or a bit better for it.
Not really any coins with collector value besides a count of mint ASEs. A few old foreign coins but nothing worth mentioning besides the penny. Does anyone know what would be the best way to market and sell the penny? I've heard horror stories about Ebay so other than that, I'm not sure where to get a decent price for the coin?
eBay isn't a bad place. I've been buying and selling on there for over a decade with very few problems. Send me a message. I could be interested at the right price.
I don't know what can be done about that spotting. I believe I have read that the guy who originally hoarded a large quantity of these improperly stored them, so many are spotted.
I'm a little suspicious of this one. When you find a red '31s (a highly counterfeited coin) with a bunch of junk it raises my antanae. I'd have to see bigger pics of it out of the 2x2 before I'd make an estimate of value. I borrowed the OP's pics and increased the size just for the heck of it.
