I recently bought this 1929 S Cent and was looking at the mint mark. First question, am I correct in saying this is this a S/S RPM? Did a search and I think it looks like a 1929 S, S/S, CONECA: RPM-002. Second question, what are the marks just off the upper part of the S mint mark just to the east, I see two horizontal lines? The lines are raised, not scratches. I can't find anything about them. Sorry about the pictures, I took them with my cell phone.
It's not number 2, placement wrong on the mint-mark . Could be number 1 . http://varietyvista.com/02a LC RPMs Vol 1/1929SRPM001.htm
Rick, It is definitely not number one. Number one has the RPM to the north. When I did a search for this coin it came up with Coppercoins.com. On their site it looked a lot like this one. 1929S-1MM-002 | S/S WEST CONECA: RPM-002 | Crawford: unknown Wexler: WRPM-002 | FS#: unlisted. This variety shows a lightly punched and closely spread extra upper left curve in the field to the left of the primary mintmark.
