My newest purchase.....do you think I should send this coin to NGC for a third party opinion and slabbing?
    What's the possible grade? IMG_20170127_171945.JPG IMG_20170127_172033.JPG

Have you checked for the values of this coin in various grades? How can you decide whether to submit it for grading without knowing how much it will be worth minus the grading fees?

That's an easy gem for me, an easy $100+ coin. We need better lit photos to really pinpoint it.

That's a lovely coin, but it would have to be in the highest grade recorded to be worth slabbing if it doesn't easily meet the Red designation. Although that color looks good from your images, they're of insufficient quality to contemplate any advanced grading guesses. In Red, you'll need MS66 for a buyer to exceed $100.

It's a MS65. Sometimes people just want a matching slabbed set and don't worry about spending a few bucks getting it in a holder. Nice coin!

If that coin is red (and I think it is despite your pictures) AND you can get a good deal certifying, it might be worth a try. I think that is a 65 with a long shot at 66. 65's go for +-$100. That is probably about break even with a $30 slabbing. By the time you pay shipping both way, that can be done with a lot of luck.

I don't want to rain on anybody's parade, but I bought this as a "GEM BU RED" within the last year for $16.20. If the grades don't fall where you want, or if it comes back as RB instead of RD, you can pay more for the slabbing than the coin.

But, yours sure looks terrific... Ya feelin' lucky?
