wondering what the grade/ value would be on this 1928 Peace Dollar. came from an album where it has been for over 40 years. I noticed the mintage was just over 300,000 so i decided to look it up a little bit.
I'd call it an XF45... If it's original. I don't see any signs right off the bat that suggest the has been cleaned. It's tough to say if a TPG wouldn't body-bag the coin as "Environmental Damage" for , what looks like, dirt that has built up on the reverse. -Brian
I think we have all seen coins submitted that look far worse that your 1928. Check out ' show me your Mercury Dimes'. If yours is a genuine 1928 Peace Dollar I think you have a really nice coin there. So my advice is just leave it as it is and submit it to the third party grader you decide on. You may consider them to clean/restore the coin but I've heard horror stories about that too. Wait for more opinions. I'm have no experience or expertise on Peace Dollars but here are my Congrats in advance. Lucky you. If you have the full set of Peace Dollars maybe it would be better to leave it as it is. Take relly good pictures of this coin to show what is like before you send it in. zeke
