Garlicus Debt is dumb, cash is king.

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Just looking to get other's opinion on my new purchase, which I got in a complete set. (May be gloating a little too) I'm not the best photographer, but did my best. There is a strange squiggle mark just to the right of the hair and tiara. Any ideas what it could be?

It could be a contact mark from the reeding of another Peace dollar, but I'm not 100% sure.

image.jpg Quite possibly. I was thinking the machine that makes the reeding, but you answer sounds more plausible.

It looks like it's been cleaned harshly, but still not enough -- those spots on the front look like corrosion in progress, especially the one on the neck. It looks to me like it needs an acetone rinse ASAP. Still a darn sight nicer than mine, which looks like it got the toothbrush treatment at some point.

The zoomed-in shot definitely looks like a contact mark.

The reeding is formed by the retaining collar in the coining chamber.

Definitely bummed out about the cleaning, but couldn't pass up the set at the price offered.

What do the 1921 and 1934-S look like?

So what's to be sorry? I was just commenting on the one that I felt was harshest......

I was saying sorry Garlicus since his Peace dollars were cleaned. I quoted you because I wanted to show all 3 were harshly cleaned not just the 1921. I do agree however that the 1921 was cleaned the harshest.
