I was looking at this peace dollar and noticed that the verification number on the slab was not pictured. I emailed the seller and asked for the verification number and she was very fast with a number and a photo of the back of the slab with the same number showing. I went to ANACS and put the number in and it came up with "grading has not been completed for this coin". Is this another way of saying that the slab is fake? Anyone seen this before? Regards. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2042911114...3ehe9r3y4IB0qCPZg6EtDWtYAxpp|tkp:BFBMsonKre5h
What is the verification number so we can look it up? The full slab image is not an ANACS photo so it's odd that the status shows incomplete. Seller seems reputable and I don't think I've seen a fake ANACS slab yet. I happen to have a similar ANACS Details slab and the word Details is also off-center like that one (yours below).
I'm no counterfeit expert but logically, why would someone fake a "Details" coin that's not extremely rare? I would offer her $45 dollars. Not the $65 she wants.
It’s an S mint mark, not a Philly coin. It’s Details and it’s cleaned even though this is a tough date in higher grades . And it’s the lowest on the AU scale. I’d just pass and look for a better coin.
The cert number is 7412707. The seller is now telling me that ANACS is having hiccups and should be fixed today and the cert is legit.
There appears to be a chunk of cert numbers between 7412690 and 7412717 with the same issue. Seems like just a data entry issue. @Collecting Nut what makes you think it's an S?
Lol, you made me look again. The ANACS flab has the date with a dollar sign. The dollar sign looked like an S to me. That and the only Peace Dollar I need to complete my collection is a PCGS, older blue label 1927-S. Add in the drugs for my upcoming surgery and I’m a mess.
