Here's the top of a penny i found tonight Is is a true ddi? Value anyone? And alot of you know I cant take full pic's with this darn thing i have it will not go less than 25x But i will be taking it to the store in the morning and paying for pictures if you Yall thank It's a good one Year 1926d Penny
Just to get the terminology correct, the term is DDO/DDR for doubled die obverse/reverse. Your coin shows mechanical doubling.
Really It looks so good here under the microscope and i can see it with the 25 x loop. It's best i have found
Hey I am still learning , Give me a brake.. I thought it was good, Remember the fingerprint one I posted It shoulb be back soon , but all the otheres you were 100% right.
So is it a DDR, guess this is the right term.. Help me on this, you get first Chance if its real.. Yes I do that
Don't get my wrong...I'm not trying to give you a hard time. I was just making you aware of the correct terminology so you don't misuse "ddi", as it is not a correct term. It doesn't matter what magnification you see it at, it is mechanical doubling, plain and simple. It is flat, shelf-like, and "takes away" from the design rather than adds to it.
Hey its all Cool I know this is a hard thing to learn about coins, But hey I will not give upp. Love pennies too much,, I found a nice 1941s %5 today out of a roll from the bank, Ill keep looking
I'm definitely not an expert...but you have a good follower who doesn't mind giving his opinion. I've learned a lot from non-cents. (especially bookmarking links). I personally use a Kodak EasyShare for the whole coin. A simple camera with macro settings will get a good pic. And I will note that I still have some difficulty with the lighting....practice...which I haven't had a lot of time to do lately. Good luck with learning. You've chosen a great site.
Thanks ,a Lot.. And i mean that , A few of my usmc friend send and bring coins over to my husband very weeks Be cause this is what he loves to do, He brought back coins from over Seas when he cam back.. And He loves it..
First non-cents is correct that it is mechanical doubling, not a DD. However, you are correct , IMO, that the image is not exactly flat, it shows shearing as the die moved away from the strike. Not straight up, as normal MDD, but slightly sideways instead, but still MDD. If you like the search for varieties, I recommend to not use a USB microscope/LED lighting, because it is very difficult to distinguish glare from DD, or any other kind of error or variety. I use stereozoom scopes, and shoot through one of the eyepieces to get a sharper and more variable lighting arrangement. More costly, but much more versatile and will last a lifetime. I have used mine for about 30 years. With such a setup, I have had good success using a canon point and shoot with a macro setting and Image stabilization. Jim
Would you Have Someone Or know someone that can get me one, Price i can work with. Lee bought the cheapest thing to get Started and My fy It sucks..
If you are near a large city or a college/university area, look in the local business guide for optician, telescope, or microscope repair /sales businesses. If none, ask the biologists or microbiologist, or lab technician at the nearest institution of higher learning who they do microscope deals with. Most institutions replace some of these on a yearly rotation. Ask if they offer any to the public at a reasonable cost. If none of these routes are available, they are constantly on eBay such as this one which is all that is needed ( regular ebay comment~ be careful, read the comments) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bausch-Lomb...850?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3383f450c2
why are you takeing pictures of your screen? theres a much easyier way to do this directly on the computer
Well I bought this microscope from Ebay and it did not come with a program to run It ,, so this is the only way i know how to take pictures using my phone. Yes sucks really bad..
