It may have been struck from thin stock. I would weigh it.

    The normal is 3.11 grams.

How light? What makes you think it is light?

The coin appears to be well worn - it will be underweight and sound different from post-1982 Lincoln cents

I just need to weigh it - I was only going by how it felt in my hands .. And it is thinner than normal and maroonish in color .

    Howdy & welcome to CT.

The 1926 S cent is considered a key date. At roughly 4 1/2 million coins minted, it is the 10th least minted cent. (Nearly 200 million 1926 cents were produced from the Phila. & Denver Mints.)

Your cent does not look right. Specifically all the numbers of the date look "weird"- it does not look like the real thing, even considering the wear and the hits it's taken.
And if you already know the weight is off, I would suggest this is not a real 1926 S.

I think that is the lens distorting the date

I thought it looked odd too - the weight is what got me .. And definately doesn't make the same sound as other copper pennies

There is no Cent sound test that I ever heard of.
