Any comment? And, yes, it is a 1925-D when you look closely.

Try grease - when it was minted.

I dont know RLM, 25D is supposed to be a known year for weak strikes, but that has to be the weakest strike Ive seen. I do think that its uncirculated with very weak strike. I almost think its such a weak strike, someone might pay a premium for such a weak strike. Send it to be slabbed and see what they call it.

Some 24-D also have extremely weak mintmarks. I recently found one in a bin full of wheaties in the office that had basically been discarded as a common 24 Philly.

I dunno, I'm somewhat confused by the coin. There's something going on with the date and mm but I'm not sure what.

Sweet man, that's pretty cool how it is like that. :kewl: Nice cent. How'd you come across it if you don't mind me asking?

eBay again. It was even listed as a grease filled die. It does not show as well in the picture, but the"5", "LI" & "ER" in liberty, "IN", and second"T" in trust also are affected.

And, Doug, You will have to be more specific. Aside from the soft/grease strike and the white speck(photo, not the coin), I do not see what you are talking about.

Look at the two pics. The arrow on th eleft points to what looks like a small 1 in between the 1 and the 9. The inside of the 9 looks like it is doubled slightly. There appears to be another numeral, perhaps the right edge of a 4 or another 1 in between the 9 and the 2. And there is something, not sure what, in between the 4 and the 5.

Then the mint mark, it looks a lot more like an S to me, but it appears to be too big.

So I guess what I am thinking is that perhaps this coin is an overdate and perhaps an OMM as well. But I do not see anything that even remotely looks like a D mm.

He is the original pic blown up and a copy marked up. There is an odd shaped dot between the 1 and the 9. The 9 could show some doubling. The "mark" between the 1 and the 2 is just a brown stripe. The surface is smooth it that area. The area around the mint mark is also basically smooth. There might be a weak blob to the south east, but the top is definitely smooth.

I fully understand. I have bought enough from eBay to know what pictures can do to what a coin looks like.
