Probably closer to $10 or $12.
Those are the prices for VG and F, in the latest Krause book.

That means that it doesn't really mather if there is a big dent in it ?

Considering the amount of wear, and the relatively low value of the coin, I don't think the gouge makes that big a differance.

1925 one cent in VG has a value of $30.00 CDN in the most recent issue of Canadian Coin News. It is the second most valuable of all the Canadian small cents

Wow, that calculates to $22.76 US.
Just goes to show you that price guides are just that; "guides".
And that the market for coins and currency is constantly changing.

The coin is very rare 200,050 mintage. Most would problably grade the coin at VG as you can still see the band on the crown. As for value it could be worth a little more I would say around $50.00 to $60.00 Canadian. The trend is around $90.00. But as its rare and hard to get you never know. If you are interested in selling might be interested.

wayne1949, you can check when threads were posted, or last responded to, by looking right over the users name, this thread is from March 8, 2004, and thats why the trends pricing is so inaccurate,
and interestingly, when this thread was started back in '04, $30 CDN was $22.76 US, and 3 years later, $30 CDN is now worth $27.74 US.
I'd have paid $15 for it, it'd been a nice match-up to my 1925 nickel, with a similar dent.

Also the mintage and values you gave were for a 5¢ coin but the coin in this thread is a one cent.
