I have a guy that wants to sale me a 1924 D cent. I was wondering what it would be worth in vf cond.? I will tell what he want after i find out and see if its a good deal or not.
I haven't dealt with Lincoln's for a while, but from what I have seen $40-$50 seems like the current range for a problem free VF. But, you have to remember that some coins have exceptional eye appeal for their grade and thus are worth a little more (or have poor eye appeal and are worth less). Be sure to evaluate the coin in hand and make sure the eye appeal as well as the technical grade are proper for the price.
Thanks Camaro he sent me pics on my phone but they are really fuzzy i just want to get a ruff price before i drive down to see it. He told me its in really good cond. but with out seeing it I'm just guessing on the grade. The red book i have dosen't list the lower grades.
I went and bought the coin this morning and I get there he hands it to me and it was a 24 S but i will take some pics and try to find out what it is worth.
BIG difference between a 24S and a 24D, about 4x the mintage and 24-S's are much easier to find on the market. We need to see both sides to grade...and take it out of the 2x2 when taking pics. There's a huge jump in 24-S prices from VF to EF, this coin looks to be either, probably VF with a weakly struck reverse...fairly common. $5 coin most likely.
