Hello! I found this 1923-s wheat penny, roll hunting a while ago, and I wanted to know what the grading would be on it. From what I can tell it's in pretty rough condition. I’m new to collecting coins, and I don’t know how to grade them yet. If any one knows the grading on it, I will greatly appreciate it. Thank you!
It's corroded, as far as grade goes it's pretty close to the bottom. https://www.pcgs.com/photograde/ Check this site out. It has every grade and you can check yourself, or at the very least, be close by. Looks AG in my opinion.
It may make a G-4 but I think it’s lower due to all the corrosion on it. You should invest in the R.S. Yeoman Red Book. It’s has a grading scale for each denomination in the book. You can’t go by the prices as it’s just a guide but you will learn a lot from that book.
It would grade as damaged for sure . It could be cleaned but then it would grade cleaned . Not worth grading fees . IMO
Its still silver which is why i keept it when foundthrew it back. But then took a second look good thing I did my ugliest coin found quite an accomplishment.
