1923-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar: In comparison to the PCGS photogrades, I am estimating a VG08 grade. NUM - $19; USACB - $31; PCGS - $30.60 average listed auctions sold ($60 from price guide). I'm not sure why they put their price guide at $60 when they have data that shows it lower...
I disagree on the grade. I see a G4. Maybe $28 from 1923 S Walking Liberty Half Dollar Coin Value Prices, Photos & Info (usacoinbook.com)
The reason I put it at VG08 was because the G06 example on PCGS did not show near as many lines in the dress, the stars were less defined, and other small details missing on the obverse. The reverse was a bit harder as it almost seems like it was in-between the G06 and VG08. However with the left foot being more separated from the rock than their VG08 example, it seemed like that put it over to the VG08 side for me. What specifically do you think puts it in G4?
One of the pick up points for VG 8 is the rim worn to the touching of peripheral designs and lettering. For the most part this coin has one spot on both sides that shows this, with plenty of separation of the rim and design on the remainder, both sides. This leads me to agree on a solid VG 8…imo…Spark edited to add: FMV…G4=$22…VG8=$39…I can see this selling for $29-$33.
