can someone please tell me if this is a 1923S Standing Liberty Quarter? To me I see an 's' but a 2nd opinion allways helps
I dont see any S at all, but I may be wrong. Unless you get better pictures of the date area, its a plain 1923.
I stand corrected, I zoomed in and its an S but its a very faint S, and the date is hardly readable. I say worth 200-250 dollars if it truly is an S.
Not an S. The S didn't wear like the high points on the coin since it was stamped in a recessed area. You've got a 1923 P mint SLQ in F to VF on your hands. It's worth around $30 in that condition. I've attached a photo of my 1923 S in F as a point of comparison. Date worn off, but S still very prominent.
People see what they want to see. It's just a worn Philadelphia strike, and $30 would be pushing it. However, it appears that some CT members are convinced otherwise... and that's what makes eBay a great place to sell coins. List this as a '23-S? and watch the bidiots run that price up. Personally, I wouldn't pay ten bucks for the coin.
Race is right. MMs on SLQs are bold and protected, and fully visible long after the date is entirely gone. You have a Philadelphia 1923.
