    I'll go with MS64.

Man, that is a closed 3--at first glance it looks like a 1928!

Those are some nasty marks on the forehead, I'd say 62 and figure they did too.

I am not sure where the coin starts and the holder leaves off, if the marks I see are on the holder I would say it is a 63, if on the coin I would say it is a 60.

I agree, those marks will limit the grade despite the apparent abundance of luster.

From the photos -- with the nicks on the forehead and chatter in the fields -- 64 looks to a bit of an optimistic grade. That said, I'll bet the luster is really nice if it got that high of a grade as that's the only characteristic which can be used to trump the shortcomings mentioned above, IMO.

    So how's the luster in-hand?

That is what Pcgs grade it.

I'd have to agree with Doug on this one... Even tho this coin may have exceptional luster and a clean cheek, these marks should have kept the coin in the 62-63 range. What should have happened and what did happen sometimes dont add up.

The marks on the hail line are on the holder.
I will try a side photo tonight and see if it works

The marks are on the holder you could make it out if you really examine it.a right on the head grade they gave it Ms 64. Jello has the coin he would know if it's from the holder or not and why would he fib.

Just being honest they don't look like they are on the holder to me either... I'd love to be proven wrong here tho.

Look at it more closer sometimes a pic could give you strange illusions .Look at the first pic you could tell it's on the holder . The pic that GD posted is zoomed in and you are going to get that effect that the marks apear to be on the coin because of the extra magnification but there on the holder. i would say it's common sense that it's on the holder the grading company new that, if it was on the coin they would have graded it maybe a MS 62 or 61

I've looked at these pics and my conclusion from these pics is that it is on the coin... If it was on the holder i'd expect to see a shadow or something on the coin cast by the lights used for the picture. jello said he was gonna take some pics tonight of the area. I'd love to see a pic of this area taken at an angle.

The grading company is not that stupid if it were on the coin the marks would have taking it down to a grade of maybe Ms62 they are so obvious to pass up if it were on the coin sorry.
