Hello everyone I get confused with all these different price guides around the internet and I was wondering what is my ICG MS 67 1923 P peace dollar worth. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Well, heres one that is on ebay and there have been previous HA auctions for one like this that have sold between 2500 - to upwards of 4700, Do you have pictures we could look at? -Shawn
I can show you the pictures from the auction I got it from but My camrea is broken ATM. I hope you can use these two pictures. http://www.auctiva.com/hostedimages...95,171260300,171264148&formats=0,0,0&format=0 http://www.auctiva.com/hostedimages...95,171260300,171264148&formats=0,0,0&format=0
Sorry, but that is IGC graded and not ICG. The coin appears to me to be grossly overgraded and likely cleaned beyond belief. I am not an expert on these coins, bu tI would guess that it is worth little over melt.
I hate to break it to you, but that slab is not an ICG Slab, and that coin certainly is not an MS67 example, I hope you didn't pay too much for it!
Well thank you rim cents that shows you how new I am to everything. I got a quick question for you if I may. Is IGC grading the lowest grading service so I know not to buy in the near future?
Let's go the other way. If you only buy NGC and PCGS, you should be safe. ANACS and ICG are not too bad - usually.
Well, among a few others yes. I searched for quite a while looking for that site someone posted a while back showing all the different grading companies and their slabs, but I couldnt find it.. DOH, knew I should've bookmarked it.
Thanks guys I didn't pay that much for it so it’s no biggy. I think of it as a lesson learned. I'm glad I found and joined this site and I'm glad that was my only so called graded coin. I have a lot of nice looking coins left over and some bu’s that I didn’t grade yet. Once I get my camera looked at or I buy a new one I will share some with you guys. Also where should I get my coins graded at?
PCGS, ANACS, or NGC are the top 3, Canadians use ICCS. But posting pictures here first is a good idea, we'll let you know if it's worth it to send them away.
That depends on the coin and when it was slabbed. There was a time, with non-modern coins, that ICG was as good as NGC & PCGS. That is no longer the case.
I hate to say it too that's a boot leg slab job and the coin looks like it's about a Ms62 or 63 at the most . The coin would be worth close to 5 thousand dollars according to PCGS price guide. Well if the coin was in a ICGs slab it would maybe be worth about half the price I don't know how much you paid for it but it still shows you how many things you just have to watch out for in the coin world Jazzcoins Joe
Although the Reverse appears to be untampered with, I can't say the same about the Obverse! There are some dings, nicks, rub and scratches but if it were not for the Obverse having been cleaned and whizzed, it might grade around MS-64. However, due to problems on the Obverse, I believe that ANACS or ICG would definitely down grade the coin to an AU-58 to possibly MS-60. Frank P.S. With coins like this being sold in a holder with a Company name (IGC) that could easily be mistrued as ICG, I think that ICG should file Court proceedings against this self-slabber. To me, I believe that this is a case of name infringement which ICG could easily win! If my memory serves me correctly, both PCGS and NGC have sued other Grading Service Companies for name infringement and won.
I agree I think eBay and other places took them down because I can’t find any of them anywhere now. I looked at the coin again it was a stock photo he used my coin doesn’t look that bad but I don’t think it’s a MS67 though. I will try to get a hold of a working camera soon so you guys can see it.
This coin has abraision marks scractches nicks By looking at this I would give it an MS61 now Jazzcoins Joe
