My dealer got in a group of early US commemoratives including a Monroe Doctrine that is in about MS64-65 condition. It looks like it was minted yesterday but there is a catch.Someone must have yanked it out of a 2x3 too fast and it has a 1/4" staple sratch on the obverse in front of the men's portraits. He will sell it to me for $100
in that condition. What would you guys do???

I would probably only pay AU money for a coin like that.

Walk away. You can buy graded and slabbed MS examples for less than $75. Why buy a damaged coin - even if it is cheap ??
