closeups what book would you recomend might have the proper discription or pics of this type of crack .I assume that what you mean buy the book before the coin. i have had it for 55 years
A lamination is a flaw in the planchet, not the die. It is usually caused when the metal is rolled out to the proper thickness.
i figured that the die could not have been cracked th cause this . is this something you see alot of I looked in what books i had dident find anything on lamanation .what book would you recomend ? is there any Value ? thanks
I bet googling 'cent lamination' would get some info, also try wikipaedia. Laminations don't add much , but can turn a 10 cent coin to a $2 coin. Some people collect them, but they are fairly common. Value depends on if a piece is split off or hinged , and where the lamination is on the coin, and the amount of lamination. A valuable one would be a hinged split planchet.
