What is a weak D, die #1 worth in VG8 condition?

These pictures are not mine, so it's the best I can offer. (no die rotation)

See http://lincolncentresource.com/1922Ddievarieties.html. I am pretty sure that is not a die #1. There is no crack from the L in "PLURIBUS" to the O in "ONE". It may well be die #3. If it is, the reverse should be rotated about 15 degrees CCW. However, I am pretty sure I see the remnants of a "D". That would make it a weak "D" and probably VG and worth about $10. A true no "D" would be worth between $100 and $300.

I just noticed that you said there is no die rotation. Without the die crack (it is pretty obvious), it is not die #1. The bust is not against the rim so it is not Die #4. All die #3 are rotated that I am aware of, but I have seen some write ups that state only some are rotated. The only possibility is die #3, but I have my doubts.

The reverse is pretty weak, and the die crack is there, but weak. I think I remember reading that it is not a necessity that #1 has a strong die crack. Rather, it is a good indicator if the jogging die crack is there that it is a #1. I really doubt that this is a #2. The seller states "very weak" D, so with that in mind, I'm discounting #2. My best guess from the pictures and edscription is that it is a #1.

Darn that rotten Dansco hole!

That is very obviously not a die #2. I did not even consider that one.

I will have to take your word for it about the crack. I cannot see it, but your picture of the reverse is a bit fuzzy. You are correct that the crack is not required, but that "TRUST" doesn't quite look right either. However, if the seller says it is a weak "D", I would definitely believe him.

I think it is a weak D #1 also. I seem to see a fuzzy die crack and the second 2 isn't as weak appearing as usual with a #3 in this grade , IMO.

I thought weak d's had more of premium than that? I recall selling one of my low grade weak d's (advertised as such) for over $60 a while back. Did I just get lucky?

They are all over the map, but what condition was yours and how much of a "D" showed? Along with how clear your pictures were, they are all important to the price.
