1922 s mechanical mint damage?

hi there, what do people think this damage is on this 1922 s peace dollar. i know struck through reeding is super rare, is it a possibilty? if not what do you guys think about it?

damage.. see how the metal is pushed out ..

 

what could have caused it?

 

probly never know.. could be teeth marks from a vise, an someone trying to cut it? could have been in a box full of gears an scrap metal for years, anybodies guess really...
