Does anyone know which VAM this is? There appears to be a die gouge across the sun's rays on the reverse, below DOLLAR and to the right of the leaves. I tried finding it in the site linked below, but I can't find it. Maybe it's not a die variety, and it's something else?

    Thanks in advance!

I think I know what it is... I have a different 1922-P Peace dollar and that has a die clash mark on the exact same spot. Plus, on the obverse, there's a die mark of similar size and length right above Liberty's hair - that appears to be the exact location where the dies would clash and damage each other. Would that be a new die variety? Or do die clashes not count, even though the die itself is permanently damaged due to the clash? I don't see "die clash" on the VAMWorld site.

I'll post some pics after it gets out of the acetone bath.

Ok, here are the pics I said I'd post. Above the hair, there's an unusually deep incuse. That shape appears to match the reverse's extra relief shape perfectly. So, I believe it's a die clash; however, the reverse relief should be on the left side then, unless it was a rotated die clash... Would that be a die variety, new or otherwise?

Also, I noticed a very deep and relatively wide incuse to the right of the neck, which is more pronounced than other 1922-P Peace dollars I own. Maybe it's something, maybe it's not.

    Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Bump - is the die clash mark on the reverse, and the deep / wide incuse above the hair a die variety? It certainly means a permanently damaged die, identifying that die specifically with those diagnostics, right?

Sorry I can't be helpful. I stop VAMing when I see words like scribbles...

That's a clash exactly as you think it is, and as such it's just another clashed die. The best that clash could do for a given VAM is identify a specific die state of that VAM.
