I was just given a 1922 NO D Lincoln cent slabbed in an ANACS to sell for a friend...any how It is VG Details- Net G4 plus it is slabbled as damaged and it has a spot on the reverse at twelve o'clock ...any way he thinks he can get $850...I say $550-600...what is your opinion...will post pics later...looking for census on what you would pay for a coin like this..
    Thanks

Depending on what eye appeal is left, and what the noted damage looks like, I wouldn't see myself going over $600 for it. JMO

The big gouge above the N on the reverse that he described in the original post.

    Neal,
When I check the "gouge" on the rev near the "N", I notice a similar effect on the obv in the corresponding position. Appears to me that someone was trying to "hole" it, and either didn't totally succeed or corrosion fill it in. Or it could just be the photos.

I dunno, $500-550 seems about right, myself I wouldn't go to $850 like your friend wants.

Just another note, ANACS only gives the "no D" designation to those with strong reverse. You shouldn't have any problem getting $500 or so for that coin. You need a good photo of the damage, if it's minor, the coin will likely fetch more money.
