That is very peculiar... but I couldn't understand how anything like that could have been created inside the Mint.

So I vote PMD on this one, meaning it's just worth melt. :)

It's hard to tell whether someone dripped solder onto the coin before or after they took a Brillo pad to it.

The big lump has detail in it so I dont think its solder.

He is right. There is some detail in both the "lumps" in the hair area. The only way I can think of to do that would be a planchet flaw/bubble. If that is correct, it might be worth a bit before it was scrubbed. I do not think there is much it could be after that cleaning the would make it worth greater than melt.

My first thought, at reading the title, was 'cast counterfeit.......but after viewing the coin it does look like something dripped on the coin. I don't think it's 'mint original' with what's going on here.........

That was also my first thought, but then how do you explain the hair detail in on "lump" and the spike appearing in another.

It's weird, I tell ya. Ain't seen nothin' like that before.......which makes me suspect of the originality.

Looks like someone was trying to use the brillo pad to rub those bubbles off.

You are correct, there is definately details over the lumps. I agree...it's either a planchet flaw or it's a counterfeit.

    How did you test it?
