http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...5416373&ih=015&category=139803&ssPageName=:IT MS 60? Wear, Spot's, Ding's and pits from what looks to me like a cleaned coin. Just another example of a less then good discription.
I'm not sure if I see wear or not, but I would almost bet my life on saying it's been cleaned and retoned. I could be wrong though. I don't say this often, but that's one ugly coin. Phoenix
EDIT. I cannot comment / conflict of interest. Grrrrrrrrr, man I'm biting my tongue on this..... I figured out a way to say this. RUN FORREST RUN !!!!! I have flamed other sellers AFTER they have stolen money from CTer's, this fellow is only tryin to !!!
You would think an eBay seller with a user name of vicbrenner would be an expert on Lincoln cents and someone you could trust when buying Lincoln cents.
I have actually emailed the guy on a cpl occasions, asking for better pics because a coin looked cleaned and retoned, and I did not want to have to return it.......he told me not to bid on it both times black background should be your first heads up even when scrolling the main listings in gallery view
Among many who take pics of coins, black backgrounds are extremely popular not because they are trying to hide something or make the image look better than it really is - but because there is a large segement that really likes the black backgrounds. They feel it provides a better contrast so that the coin can be seen in the image as it really is. Also, many don't realize it but black actually reflects more light than white. And that should allow you to see a coin better than a pic with a white background. So don't always assume that a black background is a bad thing. If somebody wants to doctor a coin image they can easily do so with any color background.
yeah, agree on that also GDJMSP. When in hand, and for my photo album, I have used black because it looks so good with BU copper this coin does not need a background at all to see the doctoring sometimes, it is used to hide a red colored light on BU lincolns tho
I use a black backround a lot. Leave the scanner lid up actually. Not to dupe people but to get a better picture. I am wary of that coin though. Think it took a cleaning.
From a detail standpoint, the coin could pass as an uncirculated piece, even if it is a bit rubby. These coins are graded MS-60 - MS-62 all of the time. This coin has been cleaned and recolored though. I would pass.
