Picked up a few $10 Morgans at an antique center today while VAM hunting. This one has a die gouge between B and U on the obverse. I remembered seeing the die gouge listed somewhere, but I couldn't remember the VAM number. Another VAMmer helped me out by identifying it as a 21-S with a grease filled die. The mint mark doesn't show. It's a 21-S VAM 1A. You can see some letters on the reverse are lower than the rest. Grease filled the die and blocked out the mint mark. die gouge close-up of mint mark area
Hmmmm - a no S Morgan !! That's a new one for me - thanks for the info Must be something about that dang S mint mark - every so often it just gets left off the coins :kewl:
My coin is boring. I like the 21-D Morgans with grease filled dies that left the IN GOD WE RUST variety, or the IN GOD WE TRU T variety. Some people will collect anything.
