Hey Guys, I was at an Antique Shop and this caught my eye. I'm not sure what you would call it, but... I think it might be VAM, what do you guys think? Also what might the grade be???? Thanks, SM
I know next to nothing about VAMS and most of what I know came from reading on here....but that looks like something....I would call it cud...but someone might call it a VAM....if I remembered right there are LOTS of VAMS for 1921.... Speedy
Thanks for the reply Speedy. The only reason I wouldn't call it a CUD is because the piece of metal is lifted off the coin. Does this make sense? SM
No, an error is not a VAM. An error is a 1 time occurance, a VAM is a specific set of dies. Every Morgan and Peace dollar is a VAM. Some of the dies were broken, or had doubled MM, or something else unique on them. The coins that were produced with that combination of dies have a VAM number.
Thanks for all the help! I will probably just hold onto it for awhile. I probably paid what its worth, but at least I found something, that the seller didn't now he had! Thanks again, SM
