Do not know if this is the correct place to get input, as I am new here. If not, please direct me to the correct forum.

    1921 P Morgan Dollar Questions

Been lurking here for a while, but finally decided to put my Morgan out there for input from all the experts here.

I am almost blind, so the photos are actually high resolution scans. Best I could do.

    Anomalies:

    Reverse.

17 berries although the extra one is more of a dot.

Arrow feathers meet branch at eagle’s middle claw.

    Upper arrowhead has scribbles.

Denticles just pass the N in United, to the D, are smaller than the rest.

Double striking evident on some letters and on the first 1 in 1921. Right inner side of O in One. Inner bottom and up left side of O in Dollar. Upper portion of bottom of L in Dollar. Upper left portion of T in United. Middle lower portion of S in States. Some shows on all letters of States. Top and outer left side of F in Of.

Could not see anything major out of the ordinary on obverse side. The denticles appear to be of varying sizes. Maybe a better trained eye can spot something.

The stamping does appear not as strong as on some of my other Morgans.

This was tough to scan due to the brilliance of the coin. Photos appear dark, but had to adjust scanner settings for detail. There are some scratches and dings on both sides. Overall brilliance is about a 64 grade to me, maybe higher. Also do not know of some of the dings and scratches are from use or mould imperfections. Am guessing the former.

Coin was given to my Grandparents by some annual resort customers from Chicago. They were one of the owners of Libby Foods and their last name was Libby. They said this and another 1921 Morgan were given to their parents and were very special dollars. The other is a 1921 D. Pretty well worn and nothing appears special to me about it. These customers were always giving my Grandparents valuable tokens of their appreciation.

Would appreciate any insights. Have done a lot of research on this coin and know possibilities.

    Thank you

Coin was given to Grandparents in the late 1930's.

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

Well, in general the 1921-D is interesting because it was the only year Morgan struck at Denver. The 1921 Philly coin is the very definition of "common as they come". Not many collectors are into '21 Morgans at all.

First, welcome to the neighborhood, Beth!

FWIW, the first thing I noted about your thread is that you posted all of your images as "Thumbnails". This presents a problem since your multiple questions and comments are rather lengthy. This means that in order to answer each question, it is necessary to open a photo and then close it to post one answer, and repeat this process each time.

May I suggest that in the future, you use the "Full Image" option for all of your photos so that we can simply scroll back and forth between viewing them and composing our response.

hey, thanks for the replies. I have checked out the VAM and nothing matches. Also, did not know there was an option to post other than thumbs. Will check that out. When I clicked on the thumbs on the post, they appeared as full size.

Yes, we can click on the thumbnails and they will appear full size, but then you have to close the images to post your response. Try doing that when answering a dozen or more questions.
