Quick question... I have done some searching without much luck.

A friend has a 1921 Morgan that very clearly has a micro s mintmark. I remember hearing about some fake micro s dollars, I think. Could this be a real Morgan, or is it most likely a fake?

I don't have a picture at the moment but can post one first thing tomorrow morning.

Any help is appreciated, thank you

Sorry to say I don't feel comfortable judging anything without a proper photo. Hope to be able to further help once they are posted. :) Either way, I do not believe the Micro "S" variety, for that specific date, is a phenomenally rare variety. Also, it does not seem to be recognized by the Cherrypickers' Guide.

I was under the impression from Van Allen/ Mallis ( VAM) book that all 1921 -S morgans were of the (small)micro -S mintmark.

According to the 3rd edition of the Morgan Red book, all 1921-S Morgans are small/micro mint marks. And all the 1921-D are micro mint marks, too.

Aaaaahhh, so this is why it is unrecognized by Cherrypickers' Guide. Hahaha, it all makes sense now. Thanks for clearing that up. :)

As well as no distinction mentioned in Redbook either about micro s mintmarks on the 21s.

Ahh, ok. I did not know that, and did not have another 21-s to compare too. Thank you for the info!
