My mother just called me today from Nevada and told me she was cleaning out her jewelry box and found a 1921 Morgan Dollar. She knows nothing about coins, I asked her where she got it and if it could have been a fake. She said its not fake and that one of her girlfriends back in high school gave it to her back in or around 1978.

What are the odds this coin is a fake? Are all 1921 morgan dollars worth anything? According to my red book, if I am looking at it right, there were only 292 total dollars made that year???

    Thanks for any info

  3. I don't know what red book you're reading. There were 44.69 million 1921, 30.345 million 1921-D, and 21.7 million 1921-S. I own about 15 1921's all together. The condition is everything, but there's about $30 of silver in each Morgan.

It is probaly real. Up until the 1970's slot machines in Nevada would pay out in Peace & Morgan Dollars. So it was a common thing, back in the days of my mis-spent youth.

I'd still be curious what page you were looking at because there weren't 292 proofs made that year either.
