Ok, here's a fun exercise. I am posting 4 different 1921 Morgan Dollars for you to guess the grades on. The twist is, there are only two grades to choose from, MS-65 and MS-66. So tell me which Morgans are graded MS-66 and which are graded MS-65. Here's your final clue: There are at least 1 graded MS-65 and at least 1 graded MS-66. #1 #2 #3 #4
I have a real love-hate relationship with '21 Morgans. I love collecting them and I hate grading them. Im going with this: 1=66 2=66 3=66 4=65 But I wouldnt be surprised if 1 was 65 and 4 was 66.
If I was grading them without your hints, I would say MS-65 MS-65 MS-64 MS-64 But since your hints change the game a bit, I will say MS-65 (only marginally better than the last two, but not as nice as #2) MS-66 (fewest marks and the best luster of the four by far) MS-65 MS-65
#1 - 65 #2 - 66 #3 - 65 #4 - 65 I really like #4. Focal marks aside it is my favorite of the group and I bet it looks great in hand. ...Cool twist on GTG.
1=65, 2=66, 3=66, and 4=65 That's my favorite coin, and that's a very fine collection you have there.
Agree with the majority here - #2 has the least blemishes on lady liberty's face, which is the prime focal area for most coins - ugly face = ugly coin, regardless of grade
