I'm looking at buying the aforementioned 1921 Morgan. I'm not a Morgan person, but curious if this has any special value VAM attribute to it and how much it could be worth? I'm going through Vamworld.com but gosh, there's hundreds .. so asking for some assistance. Thanks
I typically have whiskey nearby when VAMing 1921's. And it's nearly impossible to VAM most of them from pictures alone. I use a stereo microscope especially when it comes to the numerous die scratches reverses. Usually not worth VAM-ing these unless you really love it and have plenty of patience.
that sounds crazy at least I think I see a die crack along 3 stars by the Chin or is that just a scratch ? I see die cracks are crazy common too. I don't really collect morgans, thought it would be a good example to work on my "conservation" techniques
I see what you are talking about with the die crack. It's really hard to attribute 21's from die cracks alone. Unless it's a major break or clash or something other than the usual cracks and die scratches there really aren't really any premiums in my opinion. Take a look at how many VAMs there are regarding die scratches/scribbles in between the eagles legs alone. And none really carry any premiums.
