I'm sorry about the pixelated picture I I'm trying to find the best way to get it clear but I was looking at the mint mark and I noticed it's really not shaped like it's supposed to be and it's split up what could this be? Any help is greatly appreciated
They're so small anything could happen from a chip to a striking abnormality to just plain damage as @Insider said.
And keep in mind too that each die had the mintmark struck into the die itself. It isn’t uncommon at all to see variations in the placement and sharpness of mint marks from the same mint each year.
That was my first thought as the mint mark looks to be on a slight angle to me. The bottom left looks tilled to the left and the top right looks tilted to the right. Not much but to me, it’s noticeable.
Thank you guys this group has been alot of help to me as I been learning about coins and to be honest this group is way better than coin hep you community website I'm only 6 months into coin collecting and Im only 23 and they would bash me in the comments for asking a question like this
Stick around. You can learn a lot and we do our share of bashing but we also tell the truth. We only have your description and photos to go by and that’s why it’s important for you to do the best postings you can.
