Recently i aquired a couple rolls of wheat cents and found a 1920 wheatie which is common, except this one is shiny silver. Cant find any info about this other than the 1943 steel peenies which were zinc coated. The date is very clear 1920, anyone ever saw anything like this?
We hear about these quite often. It's as stated above and likely a science experiment or similar. Littleton Coin Company still sells these as far as I know and sometimes gives them away with a purchase of approvals sent in the mail. Old Maynard Sundman found a little niche market for these when he first started Littleton. Back in the 40's I believe.
