Howdy, Came across this and a bit confused as to reason why if this is an alloy mix variety why obverse is horizontal in pattern and reverse is vertical? Also is line across Lincoln's face a lamination? Thanks again
The reverse of your coin is called a Mottled wood-grain. Probably why it looks opposite of the obverse. Check the 1938 LWC. http://www.error-ref.com/improper-alloy-mix/
