    Need some advise on this coin. I found it in a lot of 90% junk silver.
    I am thinking of getting it graded and could use some help with that.
    Thanks
    Best

    Alan, nice date, especially for a junk lot find. My issue with submitting it for grading is the condition. It looks like its got environmental damage. Maybe it was a metal detector find?

    @paddyman98 , your thoughts?

    It looks like it's got luster, and there's some good detail left on it. The middle band is full, if not, pretty darn close to it. Can't tell what's on it, whether that's corrosion, or just a bumpy, toned surface. Your second set of pictures aren't bad. If we could get some bigger ones, sharper-focused, too, that would help to nail what's going on on the surface, and whether it's fatal or not to the grading.

    The obverse looks really ragged, I don’t think it would straight grade…definitely not MS and not full band.

    IMO, you have a $50-$75 coin. I don’t have a high degree of confidence that it would be worthwhile to add grading fees to its overall value.

    That S mint mark looks odd. Can we get a close up?

    Could be just a long soak in some distilled water, with a q tip roll.
    Then back for a long soak, and another roll with a qtip.
    @acan451 no rubbing with the qtip, just roll the qtip over the surface, gently.

    A nice date for junk silver but not worth the cost to grade or conserve.

    Just keep it as it is, and leave it alone. It is a nice collectible coin, that will never straight grade.
