1917 wannabe Mattie

    OK. Its not a Matte Proof. But, those fields.....If those dies weren't sandblasted......I dont know how this surface occured. Anyone else have a MS 1917 with granular fields?

    I'd want to say it's the "orange peel" effect from worn dies
    BUT
    the details on the devices look too crisp for worn dies.

    Cleaned and artificially toned?
    That doesn't seem right either.
