I love the look of this coin, but not sure of value? I'm thnking VF25ish, anyone got a better assumption of grade? Think it's worth $9 w/free shipping?
Where would you put a grade? I don't much search through the multiple sections of us coin, us paper, foriegn coin, bullion any more, so I just go through a few of my favorite sellers inventory for gems. Heck maybe there are 3,492 nicer ones for spot that I haven't seen, so asking for FMV here really helps.
It's a common date and the VF goes for 8.50-9. It's the market price and wouldn't go any further than that. And it is in that VF grade range.
Thanks KooKoo! Picked it up for $8, shipped. Not great, or bad. Sorry moneyer, I'm used to the US system of cents, nickels, dimes, & fractional values as in quarters, or halves. As this coin is not a nickel, my own verbiage for it is half dime solely based on the fact that I've never said 5 cents piece, so half dime rolls off the tongue(or fingers, when typing). Thank you for understanding.
I'd put it close to VF20 but it does have eye appeal. I think you paid the high end of retail for it but you seem happy with it and that's what's important.
Huh. I saw one of those (in similar grade) at a PM dealer today. I didn't pick it up b/c my ol' Krause catalog had the 1917 listed as a fairly common date. Does it really sell in that price range? I may have to go pick it up for $2 (the price I paid for a 1908 5 cents from the same place)...
