Just picked up a no date standing liberty at 5 cents below spot price at my local silver store

i was trying to figure out if there was a way to tell how old it was with out the date
when i came acrossed how much the 1916 is worth and how many are randomly being found in junk silver stashes.

any one know how to tell the difference in when the coins were made to determine how old it is

    pictures would be helpful

If it is a Variety 2 reverse (stars below eagle) it cannot be a 1916 because that reverse was used 1917 and later. If it is a Variety 1 reverse (no stars below eagle) it would be dated either 1916 or 1917 (the only dates that reverse was used). If you have a Variety 1 reverse there are some clues regarding the bottom of Liberty's robe that can be used to determine if the coin was struck in 1916 or not.

Camera with a marcro setting.... I phones have decent resolution.... scanners are ok if the others are unavailable. You may need to crop the image if the image size is too big. Try these options and if it still won't work I'll give ya a newbie hallpass; you can PM me for my email and send them for me to post on your behaf. You should be able to get the hang of it :)

Just make them well-lit photos with a straight-on shot of obverse and reverse. If more are needed, worry not, we'll tell ya!
