Happy and sad at the same time.! Happy that i found it .Sad because of the condition it’s in .I found it metal detecting
Well, at least it's an early year and it's Silver . Nice Find . Next time Maybe it will be a Barber and in better shape . Are you having FUN ? That's all that matters .
My Father-in-law Told me about a creek that was feed by a mineral spring and said it was used as a swimming hole in the 1800s to up to the 1960s . then it just faded away with time . I will post what I found in the 4 days of hunting.
Nice display ! I'm surprised you didn't find more Large Cents . Love them ! Silver even's better though .
Awesome finds, and sounds like an absolute blast searching a site that's been used that long and has that many old coins in the ground. However I don't think your Merc is a 16-D. It's very worn but a mintmark was strongly raised for both D and S and even in this grade would be clearly visible. You might be wishfully thinking and trying too hard to find something that isn't there. Still, it's a silver coin and a 105 year old one at that. Can't complain about finding one of them!
Dang! That’s a whole lot of silver, congrats! I think your Father-in-law deserves some of the spoils Are you going to go back any more?
Yes I plan on going back I believe I got all the gravy there’s some real nasty areas I’m gonna have to wade in but that’s all right nobody said treasure hunting was easy
I have a town near me that was removed in 1961. It's wildly grown over where the house were. But I still dream!
I'm currently camping at Hartford Beach State Park near Corona SD. There is an old trading post still standing. Would love to metal detect there if it was legal.
