1916 mercury dim

    Just purchased a AU 1916 mercury dime with about a 10 to 15 degree rotation from obverse to reverse. Is this more common with the older coins or fairly rare. I will try up load pictures laterk.

    I'm sorry; I can't tell you if rotated dies are common on older dates or not. However, in general rotated dies are worth a premium if it's a really LARGE one -- i.e: 45 degrees - 180 degrees.

    But please post pics! :) I would like to see that 1916.

    So would I... especially if it's raw. One of the most heavily counterfeited of all coins.

    I believe it was a P mintmark

    Yeah, it's the D mintmark that's the highly counterfeited one.
