If you did not already do so, please report it to Ebay. I did, but the more, the better. Here's a link for reporting - thanks: http://contact.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...Coins+&wftype=2022&userid=&pass=&redirected=1
I ratted on him. Thats a SELLER that knows what hes selling. Some times you can find a real good deal on ebay, Or come across some one selling something well beyond there knowledge and score big time. But NO in the case of the tooled mint mark and blurry pic.
The pic is actually pretty good. It clearly shows this is bogus. Looks like a blob of solder on a '16-P.
User ID's are kept private..It's a bad fake. not even close. I don't understand why people even bid on this coin.
I just e-mail the person that I was reporting him to ebay, and this is the answer I got. "It's not a fake. It is real. You are silly".
Wow Ed! Are you silly? Or maybe just pointed out the glaring truth which could be construed as silly by a scammer?
I doubt it will have any impact on the seller, but just sent the following message to him through EBay: "Congratulations, hundreds of people are watching this auction and know it's not really a 1916-D dime - you are ruining your Ebay reputation with this listing. Not that you care, or you probably wouldn't have listed it in the first place, but I can tell you as an ex-NGC grader and full time dealer of 25 plus years that a genuine D mint-mark looks nothing like that. Do yourself a favor and end the bogus listing yourself before Ebay does so."
Bet he'll like that a lot. Only problem is he probably won't believe a word you say (the NGC thing especially).
