1916-D cent grade opinions and value...

    I'm wondering on the grade of this cent. Has a very nice strike to it, but I can't tell whether or not if it would be an VF-35 or XF-40? So what would you guys give it? I am still a novice at grading still IMO, so I'd like your guyses (Another made up word by Phoenix21 :D) help, it will be appreciated. Thanks. Here it is:

    I would say that is a strong 40 and maybe 45 if graded by PCGS or NGC.

    That is a borderline coin, but I am going to give it the XF. I can't really see the wheat ears, but they look full and the obverse is nice except for the dings.(Beard and forehead)

    I would say it is a definate XF. Kirk has a point about the wheat ears, but IMHO this is due to the strike and not wear. The coin seems to me to exhibit only slight wear at the highest points and an overall good strike for the date. Nice coin!

    Thanks guys! It will lok real nice in my set once it gets here, only paid $5.50 for it, shipping included. Not too shabby I would say. :D Thanks for the comments.

    full on 40 no doubt, just a little weakness of strike keeps it from a 45, great value, 40 bids @ $12
