I'd want to go 67, that's so fine. I mean it. Those are nice, fresh dies. What kind of error is that on the obverse overhanging the rim?
That looks like a puckered insert. I suspect the coin to be graded ms65, but feel it could grade MS66.
I never heard of that. I think I kind of like it, though. It makes the coin distinctive without disrupting the eye-movement through it, as a lamination or struck-through error might.
I think you misunderstand: that isn't an error on the coin. It is the plastic gasket that is holding the coin in place.
The pictures make it look 65, but I'm terrible at grading these (even worse from pictures). It looks attractive, but I'm not seeing a whole lot of luster in these pics.
Such a fine example of an early Buffalo. (Indian Head nickel). They did make proofs that year for the 1916 Philly. Is this a proof? Otherwise I am in the MS-66 area.
I would go with MS66. Nice clear coin and solid strike. I would love to include it in my 1916 year set.
Lol. What a horse's ass. OK, but at least I still learned something...about plastic gaskets. No wonder I couldn't find this "error" on the Internet.
