Hello me agian. I have another ? this time about a 1915 Gold ducat is this worth anything good this time. hope so let me know what you know please. thanks agian sasha it is from austria I believe
The Austrian 1915 ducats are all restrikes. What that means is that they were struck in more recent years, many of them in the '60s, with the date of 1915 on the coin. Assuming the coin is genuine it is struck in .986 gold, nearly pure. And it weighs slightly more more than 1/10 oz. The value of the coin is its gold content only - so it is worth melt value plus about 10%.
Yep, the one ducat is selling for $54.95 less S&H at one dealer's site right now. The 4 ducat is priced at $204.95 at the same site. They're attractive coins for jewelry use but are, as the other poster said, restrikes of the Hapsburg Empire design from the reign of Franz Joseph. The coins are still being struck in Austria as are the Maria Theresa silver Thaler coins which are still being dated 1780.
