Hey All, Was looking through some coins and found a 1915-D silver Barber Quarter. Any ideas on worth? I saw two eBay listings, one went for $15 and the other for $60.
What was the condition of the coin that sold for $60? In the condition of your pictured coin (VG-8) $15 or a tad < is ballpark I think.......
In my opinion it is the same grade as I have. Posted the link. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1915-D-Barb...IyU0ZZe4IOkq7GNwNSnmU%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
I think your grading is a little off. lol I can't see how many letters in liberty from your pics. But based on the condition I see $15.00 is pretty close value but could be a few dollars lower depending on how many letters in Liberty are visible.
Thanks for the help! Just put it on eBay, I will see what I get. But it appears very faintly 50% is viewable.
The coin you have (looking at the pictures given) looks to be VG as Mean green stated. 15$ is a bit of a strong price for the coin, but I would gladly pay 15$ 10 times a day for your coin than 60$ for the polish VF turd. Just my not so humble opinion.
I agree w/ greenie. The link to the $60 sale is polished, but a higher grade, about XF to AU. However, you thought that it was the same grade as yours? I strongly suggest buying a grading book, before buying anymore coins. Not meant to be a dig or nasty, but it is important to learn to grade. Yours is about a VG and theirs was a very high grade, as stated. Remember: Buy the book before the coin
No it is fine. I appreciate your advice. I do have the book on order (Ordered Coin first) but now I know.
At least the takeaway from your purchase can be that you can study the coin and learn more about what diagnostics have to be worn to quality for G,VG,F,VF...etc. It's a learning lesson mrw, we all went through it. Just don't get discouraged.
